Colour in the Eyes of Summer

Sunday, 22 June 2014

Happy Sunday to all and hope that your weekend was somewhat awesome so far. Don't be gutted just yet, weekend is not officially over!

The fact that today is already the second day of summer, I was inspired to show off as much colour as possible.  This 'colour' inspiration gets me in a happy mood, although I do not exclude the fact that the black craving will eventually turn up sometime soon.

As seen in the pictures, I felt like wearing something comfortable, by showing off freedom through the material and the size of clothing. Paired up some Topshop denim highwaisted shorts, keeping in mind the detailed neon stars, in contrast with the Topshop chiffon bright yellow crop top.

What do you guys think ?

How are you all keeping my lovelies?

I am soooo surprised at the fact that I have just started the summer essential series just a few weeks ago! ... and let me tell you, it feels like yesterday.  Knowing that summer is already with us, I'm even more surprised than ever that I'm writing all about everyone's favourite season - summer (ok, let me not generalise too much!).

Feeling that dash of heat on your skin, toes in the warm sand and sea salt shining on your hair, hmmm, my cup of tea!  Now I know that most of you want that bronzed tan with a shimmer glow, but ladies and gents, hold your horses! May I warn you, do not get tooo crispy brown, you do not want all those wrinkles when you grow older.  Trust me, don't go through the same painful experience I had and don't get me started down memory lane when I used to cover face cloths with milk to cool down my burnt body and for the sake of recovering and feeling fresh, but stupid 16 year old me did not know that after sun was a product that existed!

Moving on ... although I'm not such a big fan of summer, don't get me wrong ... its the heat and the fact that I have to go shower every 15 minutes is what I can't handle.  Summer has its perks! Most of you have already started working out and get the chance to wear shimazing swimwear :D Whilst with me, I've been too lazy eating chilly fries to be honest, so wearing my ideal swimwear might take some time ...

With regards to the latest summer/swimwear trend, there are some, which I must say I have been loving deeply and obsessing about.  Take the one below for example, the beautiful sunflower swimsuit with a black background will help to make you look slimmer in size.  You have the option of wearing straps or removing them and you don't have to worry about your top or bottom part coming off once you jump into the sea.  Pair them off with a pair of transparent, round sunnies and a see through overall which is always the best option to let air pass through and allow it to touch your body in the heat of the sun.

You could manage to find these styles anywhere nowadays, and on the bright side, they suit any kind of body type.  So if you are a person  like me who loves eating food and is too lazy to exercise, the above and below pictures are a good option for you.  I am not obliging anyone to buy or dress this style of  particular swimwear. I am just giving my opinion of what suits best different body types and what is actually in trend.

You could pair off the swimwear with a cute sundress or a cute pair of a matching crop top and skirt (... in love with and obsessed with the matchy, matchy print lately). Feeling like you have to drag the whole world to go to the beach? A pair of sophisticated sunnies, beach bag and some shimi shimi sandals will do and girl you'll be good to go and walk those sandy beaches, or rocky, which ever you prefer! Haha!

Meanwhile, for all those ladies and gents who are obsessed with getting their crispy brown tan on, I would suggest putting on sun cream (a must) and avoid sunny hours which are mainly between 11:00am - 16:00pm.  Make sure you get a lotion or after sun gel such as the one I have been using lately - Aloe Vera Gel. Super soothing! ;)

Aloe Vera gel cools down the skin and helps to hydrate and improve the skin immediately. Drinking a lot of water on a day-to-day basis will definitely helps to keep you hydrated and maintain a beautiful, smooth, glowing and perfect looking skin.

How it all started ..

Tuesday, 10 June 2014

Hello Fashion Finders, hope y'all are doing well ... ! If you have been on my facebook page, you will realise how busy I am, especially that now summer is coming up and many projects in mind ;) A few months ago, I styled my very first ever photo shoot. The experience was very nerve- wrecking but fun at the same time. It had its challenges, as building up a team was not so easy. Once I did so, I was lucky enough to have a superb and supportive team especially having been able to work in super hot weather!!! I have been playing around and thinking whether or not I should put up a portfolio, but then I said to myself, why not share the experience I had with others? Everybody starts off the same. This was just a " taste " of what my job consists of. Overall, I do think that the pictures came out good (credit to Andrew Borg Carbott) and I was very pleased with my final bohemian results.

What do you think of my first portfolio? Yay or nay?

What I wore to #MFWA2014

Monday, 2 June 2014

Hello dear Fashion Finders!

Before I start blabbing all about Fashion week again ... I would like to point out that you should remain updated on my blog post as I have some very exciting and interesting news ahead of this week to announce, so keep posted ;)

Well, back to fashion week, I am so gutted that everything is over ... The excitement that each fashion show brought in me was indescribable. Every fashion show was special in its own very special way. Mind you, I would have loved to visit each fashion show but I could not do so, therefore I would still like to congratulate all the amazing 'Maltesers' - designers and International ones too as they deserve full credit!  These include the New Designers Fashion Show, Tiffany Pisani Swimwear Fashion Show, Gagliardi Fashion Show and the International Designers Show.
As most of you probably realised, I did not post any OOTD's since I decided to put a post up about them all together and specify each item in detail right now.

Ok, so let's get cracking ..

On Saturday 24th May, I attended Ritienne Zammit's and Creative Factory Fashion Show. Since it was during the day, I decided to pair up a casual look but with a twist and style of my own.  As you will notice, I tried to stick to the same colour pallette as much as possible which is that of dirty pinks and deep reds.

Since it was quite hot outside and I can tell you for a fact it was as I got sun-burnt, I decided to pull my hair up in a fishtail braid.  For a more effortless look, I added a flower crown which made a wonderful center piece.

Flower Crown: Ebay
Crop top: Topshop
Trousers: Thrift Find

Next up we have Sunday 25th May, which was Caroline Hili's colourful fashion show.

I have got to be honest that I was not prepared to attend this specific fashion show since I had other plans but well I decided to give Caroline Hili a chance and indeed I did not regret this one.

As you could see in the outfit below, I decided to change up the look a bit with a very casual shirt and quite a smart casual skirt. I wanted to bring out my inner edge so the spikes on the shirt definitely did the trick. Mean while I wanted to continue with the " military " pattern so I decided to go with some comfortable peep toe boots and damn aren't my matching toenails cute? ^^_

Shirt: Zara
Skirt: Thrift Find
Shoes: New Look
Bag: Miss Selfridge
Necklace: France

Next up was the 26th of May in which my editor and myself attended for the C&R - Charles & Ron fashion show.

For this special occasion, I decided to wear more of an elegant look in order to match the theme which C&R usually go for.  I opted for a classic but effortless theme and in my opinion I think that it worked out pretty well.  See so for yourself in the picture below.

Crop Top: Asos
Skirt: Mango
Bag: Parfois
Shoes: Miss Selfridge
Necklace: Mil Ideas

For the next event, which was on Wednesday the 28th of May, I Attended the Bridal fashion show.  For this particular night, I decided to get all glamed up by wearing a little black dress and some few sparkles here and there to go with the wedding theme.

Dress: Little Mistress (ASOS)

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Malta 2014 - Day 3 #MFWA2014

Charles & Ron

I am officially SPEECHLESS !!! Best Fashion show by far !! ... I just do not have enough words for this. The show was just amazing . The way they incorporated the Maltese buildings and designs on the outfit was such a good idea. In the outfits you were able to see Malta in a different way, and get to appreciate what you have even more.

Charles & Ron always had, have, and will always have a bright future in front of them. You could see so much potential and creativity in each and every outfit.

Im not saying that Caroline Hili's Fashion Show was not great, but the Charles & Ron Fashion show which was set up at St.Elmo got me closer to heart. Year after year we see that their work is getting higher in popularity, by winning awards of best designer and for contribution. This year, once again, Charles & Ron managed to make everyone fall in love with their entire collection.

The setting was set outside St.Elmo Square. Gift bags to each person sitting down were given, which were sponsored by Aldo and Transforma.

I cant say any better myself, and I do know that most of the other bloggers, stylists, and people that were also part of the audience will most definitely agree with me.

Why don't you judge yourself by looking at the pictures below ?

I hope that you all liked the " show " as much as I did.

Make sure to check the blog for the next week for daily blog posts

Caroline Hili - Desert Storm

Yesterday I was lucky enough to join in with the rest of the bloggers during Caroline Hili's Fashion Show. By far, this was the best fashion show so far, without a doubt. The showcase was brilliant and the attention to detail was impeccable. This fashion show was definitely a hit and most of the people present stood up from their seats and immediately praised the wonderful work in her collection. Every piece had its own unique creativity and it was just so hard to choose my favourite as they were all amazingly done.

Her Fashion Show took place on the Renzo Piano Steps in the beautiful capital city of Malta; Valletta - Republic Street. Caroline Hili showcased her Spring/Summer '15 collection. It's aim was to picture images from nature and I can tell you, she nailed it! Her collection was full of evening dresses and jumpsuits and all of the clothing produced was formal. This fashion show screamed elegance and poise. Below you will find some of my favourite pieces from the whole collection. May I say, it will be hard to top this one.

Creative Factory 7 & Ritienne Zammit

Today was the very first day of the famous Malta Fashion Week. The Malta Fashion week definitely started with a big bang. It started of with two local designers Creative Factory 7 and Ritienne Zammit. Both shows had different concepts.

The Creative Factory - Biosphere

This was a Spring/ Summer collection which featured fabric prints created from ten paintings. I love every single second from today's fashion show. It was amazing ! The colors where really spectacular, it definitely brought the summer feel to it. All the styles of the outfit vary from one another, there were a lot of dresses with a wide range of evening and casual wear.

The amazing models where from supernovamodel.com, makeup by Krista Paris and  the great hairstyles by Michael & Guy. Most importantly the designers, Charlene Muscat and Angelique Attard.

Ritienne Zammit - Amen

Next up was the talented Ritienne Zammit. Her collection was a warm Winter/Autumn feel. Her inspirations came from different urban cities. The main objective of this fashion show was to show the catholic factors, which provided a religious sence. It defo shows a diverse expression between the modernised with a touch of olden times clothing, both intertwined together.

Models where once again from the amazing team of supernovamodel.com, makeup done by Graziella Zammit Grungo. Hair was done by Christian and Matthew Galea - Micheal & Guy.

Darling ... I can wear one of you jackets and dresses ANY DAY !!! :)))

This was definitely a good start ... A very good way to start Malta Fashion Week, and super excited to see whats next for the upcoming fashion shows and events. Dont forget to stay posted for daily blogposts for the upcoming week.
